We discovered this restaurant through RedNote and came here directly for lunch. We ordered the pickled fish and fried tofu, and we would strongly recommend both—especially if you love fish and tofu like we do. The fish was very fresh, and the soup was surprisingly light and flavorful, not oily at all, so you could actually enjoy drinking it. The tofu was excellent as well—it was lightly fried first, then cooked again with onions and green onions, which allowed it to fully absorb the sauce and become incredibly juicy and flavorful. The complimentary cold dishes were also a pleasant surprise. The potato slices were especially delicious, even though they were free. We also enjoyed another cold dish with onion slices mixed with peanuts, fried tofu cubes, and black mushrooms. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal, and we would definitely come back.

We DREAM about this place. The food energizes us and is our oasis in New Jersey amidst our hard studying and rigorous program. Lots of laughs, we finish our food and stay to continue our exciting convo! The vibe of the customers energizes us too. I love this place! Would DIE for chef ge

Courteous and warm staff. Nicely decorated dining room. We ordered hot and sour soup, stirred fried cauliflower, spicy fish fillets, eggs and tomato sauteed. We Love spicy spicy dishes, but not with so far and too much starch. These are the exact reasons I'm not totally happy with the dishes.

I tried Ge Shifu and honestly, the food was pretty average. The only dish I found quite decent was the stir-fry, especially the Farmhouse Stir-fried Pork. The flavor was okay. However, their signature dish, the pickled fish, was quite underwhelming—it honestly felt no better than using a ready-made seasoning pack at home. On the positive side, the prices are reasonable, so overall it’s just an “okay” spot.
